Delete your BudgetKind account and data
BudgetKind keeps most of your information only on your device. If you created a cloud account (to link a bank), you can delete that too, in the app or by asking us.
Delete your cloud account in the app
- Open BudgetKind and go to Settings › Your data.
- Tap Delete cloud account, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete account. If you turned on two-step verification, enter your code when asked.
- Your account is deleted straight away, and the app shows “Cloud account deleted”.
This doesn’t erase data on the phone. To do that, also tap Delete all data on this device on the same screen and type DELETE to confirm, or uninstall the app. Want a copy first? Use Export on that screen.
Ask us to delete it (without the app)
Email hello@vncntlabs.com from the email address you use to sign in to BudgetKind, with the subject “Delete my BudgetKind account”. If you write from a different address, we’ll ask you to confirm from the account’s address so no one else can delete your account. We’ll reply to confirm and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner, and email you when it’s done.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in email address and account.
- All linked-bank data in our cloud: institutions, accounts, balances and transactions, connection status and sync history.
- Your bank connections: we ask Plaid to end each one and delete the encrypted access tokens.
What is kept, and for how long
- Data on your device stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app (or clear site data for the web app).
- A deletion record: a random account ID, the date and the number of bank connections closed, plus Plaid’s update notices (Plaid identifiers and event codes). No email address, name or financial details. Kept for security and troubleshooting, with no fixed deletion date today.
- Server request logs (IP address, request details): about 1 day at our hosting provider, Supabase.
- Sign-in code emails already sent: up to 30 days at our email provider, Resend.
- Emails you sent us, including your deletion request: kept as a record of the request; ask us if you want them removed.
- Plaid keeps its own records under the Plaid End User Privacy Policy; you can also manage connections at my.plaid.com.
Only want to remove some data?
- Disconnect one bank: open one of its accounts and choose Disconnect. The connection ends at Plaid and its access token is deleted; past transactions stay until you delete them or your account.
- Delete transactions or accounts you added yourself: edit them in the app.
More detail is in the privacy policy.
